Core Editorial Principles
Accuracy
Every factual claim must be verifiable. We do not publish unsubstantiated allegations or speculation presented as fact.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made independently of commercial, political, or personal pressures. Advertisers and partners have no influence over content.
Fairness
We represent all sides of complex issues. Persons or organizations criticized in our content have the right of reply.
Transparency
We disclose conflicts of interest, corrections, and the basis for our editorial decisions. We do not hide our reasoning.
Context
African stories are told with the depth they deserve — not as isolated events but within their historical, political, and cultural context.
Proportionality
Coverage reflects the significance of events to African audiences. We do not sensationalize or minimize.
Sourcing and Attribution
- →Primary sources are preferred. Where secondary sources are used, they are identified.
- →Statistics and data are attributed to their originating institution (World Bank, African Development Bank, national statistics agencies, etc.).
- →Anonymous sources are used only when there is no alternative and the information is verifiable. The reason for anonymity is stated.
- →AI-generated content is not published as original journalism. AI tools are used to assist research and analysis only.
- →External resource links (academic papers, government data, reputable publications) are included where they add value.
Editorial Independence
Africa360 is independently owned and operated. Our editorial team makes all publishing decisions without external influence. No individual, organization, government, or advertiser can direct, suppress, or alter our coverage in exchange for financial or other consideration.
Sponsored content, when published, is clearly labeled as such and separated from editorial content. Partnership announcements and commercial relationships are disclosed.
Author and Writer Standards
All authors writing for Africa360 are identified by name. We do not publish anonymous opinion pieces. Author bios disclose relevant credentials, expertise, and any conflicts of interest relevant to their coverage area.
Writers are expected to declare any personal or financial interest in subjects they cover. Editors review declared conflicts and determine whether the writer should recuse themselves.
