Fact-Checking Policy
Accuracy is not optional at Africa360. Every article undergoes a structured verification process before publication. This page describes that process in full.
Our Verification Process
Claim Identification
The writer identifies every factual claim in the article — statistics, quotes, dates, names, and causal assertions. Each claim is logged before the editing process begins.
Source Verification
Each claim is traced to its original source. We accept: official government data, peer-reviewed research, filings from verified institutions, direct statements from named individuals, and established wire services (Reuters, AFP, AP).
Cross-Reference Check
High-stakes claims (statistics, allegations, historical assertions) are verified against at least two independent sources before publication.
Expert Review
Articles covering specialist subjects (medicine, law, economics, military affairs) are reviewed by a subject-matter expert before publication where feasible.
Right of Reply
Individuals or organizations named in critical reporting are contacted for comment before publication. Their responses are included or their non-response noted.
Editor Review
The final article is reviewed by an editor separate from the author. The editor is responsible for confirming that fact-check documentation is complete.

What We Do Not Accept as Sources
- ✗Unverified social media posts or screenshots without independent confirmation
- ✗Anonymous online forums or message boards
- ✗Single-source claims for high-stakes factual assertions
- ✗AI-generated content presented as factual information
- ✗Partisan political communications without independent verification
Corrections
When errors are discovered after publication — by our editors, readers, or subjects — we act promptly. Our corrections policy governs how and when corrections are applied.
